The French Fashion Institute (IFM) has published a study (Distriflash) on textile and clothing sector in France, which shows a decrease of 4% in March. “The different distribution channels exhibit uneven performance,” said the IFM. Conversely, department stores rose by an average of 3% in value in March, up 5% since the beginning of the year.
Chains downtown and outskirts were however recorded a significant drop from 6% in March and the quarter of 3.4%. The self-made – 3% on March and – 0.8% cumulatively over the three months. As for popular stores, they are + 1% over March, but at – 1.9% in the quarter.
The loan-to-wear men did – 13.7% in March (- 6.9% over the quarter). The loan-to-wear women fared better with – 5.3% over March and 0.2% in the quarter. The underwear and footwear Men showed a better than 1.6% over March and 3.5% in total over the quarter. Lingerie and shoes Women have performed at +7.7% over March and 9.6% over three months. Finally, the market has made Children + 1% on March but – 6.2% in aggregate.
